It is hard to believe that we will be on a plane to Hsinchu in less than 24 hours! Almost surreal! Preparation has just been a whirlwind from making new friends, learning the Hoedown Throwdown (it’s harder than it looks!), receiving sendoffs from Texas Congressman Sam Johnson and Plano Mayor Phil Dyer, and of course packing like crazy.
The delegation is melding really well and I believe that the combination of our unique personalities will serve as a good representation of American teenagers and help dispel any Hollywood misconceptions that the Taiwanese may hold and replace them with positive perceptions. I also hope to offer an unique perspective on this trip by being the first representative from a private school and also being an American-born Chinese. I cannot wait to get to Taiwan and start my Asian immersion experience!
